Our Veterinarians

Dr. Brianna Gaines

Dr. Brianna Gaines was born and raised in Queens, New York. She studied veterinary medicine at St.George’s University, where she fell in love with the sun and the beach.

After finishing her clinical year at the University of Florida, she decided to officially leave the city for the sand. Dr. Gaines has spent the last four years loving the Florida sun with her husband, Aakif, and their cat, Zouk. Dr. Gaines has a passion for internal medicine and cats.

In her free time, Dr. Gaines loves reading, crocheting, and taking Zouk on walks. You can always find her with a book in her hand at the beach or curled up on the couch with Zouk crocheting a blanket.

Dr. Jay Katz

Dr. Jay Katz is the proud owner of Healthy Pets Veterinary Care – as well as an Old English Sheep Dog named Max. Dr. Katz excels at working with dogs and cats but loves seeing “pocket pets” and other exotics as well. He has a special interest in surgery, dermatology, pain management, and senior care.

Dr. Katz received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts in 2013. Prior to veterinary school, he studied Philosophy, Religion, and Art History at Boston University. After college, Dr. Katz’s near‐pathologic desire to pet every dog he saw drove him into veterinary medicine.

In his spare time, Dr. Katz enjoys traveling, yoga on the beach, basketball, soccer, scuba diving, enjoying the Florida sunshine, and no longer having New England winters in his life.

Dr. Nikki Mazzaschi

Dr. Nikki Mazzaschi grew up in Laconia, New Hampshire, and received her B.S. in biology and animal behavior at the University of New Hampshire. After graduation, she worked as a veterinary technician for a few years- where she discovered her passion for veterinary medicine. In 2014, Dr. Mazzaschi received her DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Areas of professional interest include internal medicine, animal behavior, and all things feline.

Dr. Mazzaschi and Dr. Katz established Healthy Pets Veterinary Care with the fundamental goal not only to care for animals, but also the people that love them. Dr. Mazzaschi shares her home with Dr. Katz, their son David and their 2 cats, Yara and Randy.

Dr. Tanis Whyte

Dr. Tanis Whyte was born and raised in Iowa. She is a seasoned veterinarian with over 27 years of experience. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University and has an undergraduate degree in chemistry.

Throughout her career, Dr. Whyte has worked in various settings, including an oncology practice in Los Angeles and a specialty hospital in West Palm Beach, where she worked as an emergency and critical care clinician. She has worked in general practice for the last 15 years.

In addition to her clinical work Dr. Whyte volunteered for a rescue that specialized in taking pets that were too sick for adoption and would be euthanized and getting them healthy enough to find homes. She also volunteered at Gumbo Limbo, where she rehabilitated sick and injured sea turtles.

In her free time, she enjoys cycling and going to the beach. She is grateful for a career that allows her to to be able to work with animals during the day and come home to her family of pets.

Vanessa

Hey there! My name is Vanessa. I’m born and raised Floridian! I have been in the veterinary field since I was 17 years old. I graduated from South Tech Academy with my certification in veterinary assisting and landed my first job as a kennel technician while still attending high school! Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of slowly growing into the veterinary technician I’ve always dreamed of being. I LOVE to be outdoors surrounded by nature. Hiking, kayaking, you name it. I share my home with my furry seven-year-old boy, Sergeant along with my wobbly cat, Stevie. My goal is to advocate for all creatures who don’t have a voice! I take great pride in what I do and couldn’t see myself doing anything else! The opportunity to be a part of this team is such an honor.

Courtney

Hi! I am Courtney. I have been working as a Vet Tech since 2015. My love for animals goes beyond my job. I have fostered 15 cats, and each one has found a wonderful forever home.

I’m currently a Junior at FAU for Elementary Education. I want to be an Art Teacher! When I’m not cuddling with one of my four cats, my nose deep in my sketchbook. Being a part of the Healthy Pets family has given me such joy, and I couldn’t have asked for a better workplace!

Katy

My name is Katy. I grew up on a horse farm in central Maryland, surrounded by lots of animals. I moved to Boca Raton to attend Florida Atlantic University.

I have a 4-year-old fur baby named Octavia. I love meeting new animals every day and helping them feel better.

Cori

Hi, I’m Cori! I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician, I graduated from SUNY Delhi in 2014. My personal philosophy is to treat patients how I would like my personal pets to be treated. I love emergency medicine, dentistry, and internal medicine. In my free time, I enjoy anything outside, traveling, and experiencing new things.

Hi, I’m Linda! I have been in veterinary medicine for 10 years. However, I have been using Boca North for quality veterinary care for over 30 years. I currently share my life with four amazing felines plus my grand-dog and grand-cat that come to my house weekly

Adam

Hi, I’m Adam. I’m from Chicago, IL. I moved to Florida with my family in 2020. The things I love most in Florida are sea turtles and the ocean. I started working with veterinarians at 14 years old and have always enjoyed working with animals. Often, I would find birds that were struck by cars and bring them to the local wild bird sanctuary. Now I volunteer at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. My girlfriend and I do everything with our dog Rusty! He too has been to Key West, Niagara Falls, and the Poconos! He’s a regular at our many parks and dog beaches

Hi my name is Deandra! I was born and raised in the sunshine state Florida. I grew up surrounded by animals and the outdoors. I love working at Healthy Pets Boca North. It’s made me want to further my career as a zoologist. I hope to expand my home with fur babies and horses. Also, can’t forget the goats!

Victoria

Hi, I’m Victoria. I grew up in Long Island, New York. I originally went to school for cosmetology. I studied multimedia makeup in SoHo, NY. After years of working in the makeup industry, I decided I wanted to do more with myself and to be around animals! I’ve been in Florida for 5 years, and I love it here! I have been a vet tech for 5 years and in the veterinary field for 8 years. I couldn’t ask for a better job. I love what I do. It brings me joy to help animals and make them feel better! I love learning all that I can about veterinary medicine and making pets happy. I hope I get to do this forever!

Lizzy

I grew up in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania. This is where I fell in love with all kinds of animals and nature. I have been working with animals for over 10 years. From kennel, assisting the vet techs, dolphin photography, and even an aquarist internship! I even enjoy pet-sitting on my days off. Now I am here at Healthy Pets Boca North, where the animals bring me joy and a smile every day!

Tannys

Hi! My name is Tannys. Originally from North Georgia, I moved to South Florida in November of 2021 where I started a career in dog training. From there, I decided to move into a kennel tech position at Healthy Pets Boca North to broaden my knowledge and understanding of all animals. I love being outside and soaking up the sun! Paddle boarding is one of my favorite hobbies, and every now and then, you’ll see a fur baby or two on the boards.

I’m so beyond excited to be a part of this amazing team!

Zondra

Hey y’all, I’m Zondra! I was born and raised in Clewiston, Florida where animals have been a HUGE part of my life since the very beginning. My Mom was a vet tech, and heavily involved with our local shelter, so I got to be a part of that from a very young age. From the age of 10 all the way through high school I was in the livestock world, learning to raise and care for several herds of cattle, broods of chickens, rabbits, donkeys and even baby deer. All the while volunteering at our local animal shelter and rescuing a “few” of my own (sorry Mom and Dad! You know you loved them too.) After high school, I started working at an alligator farm, hatching and raising baby gators, and trapping and relocating nuisance gators. What can I say, I’ve always loved a challenge! That’s why I feel like I’ve found my home here at Healthy Pets BN, because it combines that love for a challenge with my love for animals. I couldn’t have picked a better team to work with if I tried, I’m definitely blessed to be a part of it.
